Airdrie
prepared for their tie against Motherwell in midweek with
an outstanding performance against struggling Inverness
CT. With Ross County beating Partick it now puts Airdrie
three points clear at the top.
It
took Airdrie just 14 minutes to open the scoring when
Owen Coyle released Mark Roberts down the right and when
he fired in a cross it was met by the head of Neil MacFarlane.
Five minutes later, Owen Coyle scored a wonder goal when
his curling right foot shot found the net. Airdrie were
then awarded a penalty on the 26th minutes when Mark Roberts
was brought down and Coyle stepped up to net his second
of the game.
Airdrie
were in full control at this point and it wasent suprising
to see the fourth goal for the home side. This time it
was Lee Gardner who found the net when his shot found
it's way through a handful of bodies and into the bottom
corner of the goal. Owen Coyle then grabbed his hat-trick
when he raced onto a through ball and drove it home to
make it 5-0.
After
the interval Ian McCall brought on Stuart Taylor and Darren
Beasley for Kevin James and Lee Gardner. He then introduced
Colin McDonald for Coyle. With midweek's game coming up
Airdrie had eased the pace but on the 85th minute Airdrie
grabbed their sixth when Paul Armstrong found the net
after finding himself with hundreds of space and fired
home.
Overall
it was an excellent performance by Ian McCall's men and
a well deserved win.
