Airdrie
lost their first league game of the season to two goals
within a minute from a side struggling at the bottom of
the division.
The
Diamonds were missing key defender Allan McManus and John
Henry dropped down to the bench to make way for Tony Smith
and Lee Gardner.
With
both teams failing to create chances in the first half,
it looked like another draw was on the cards for Airdrie.
It was in the 57th minute when Airdrie managed to take
the lead with some good play down the left from James
and McPherson that let in Mark Roberts and he latched
onto the ball to score from a tight angle.
Then
Tony Smith had a great chance to make it two nil to the
home side when Coyle cut the ball back and when it seemed
a certain that smith would touch the ball into the net
he screwed his shot by the post.
That
was a chance that Smith surely will not forget about,
as Clyde came from behind to score two goals in the space
of a minute to take all three points.
Although
Airdrie had upto five penalty claims the referee, who
was shocking, didnt give any and once booked Coyle for
diving. It now looks like chairman Andy Gemmill will have
to show what he has to offer us fans and bring in some
more players to help us pusj for SPL football next year.
