Airdrieonians
made it 10 goals in two games with a convincing victory
over local rivals Albion Rovers. Goals from Stuart Taylor,
Mark Roberts, Owen Coyle and Kevin James made sure Ian
McCall's side took their place in the quarter-finals of
the Challenge Cup.
Former
Airdrie man Paul Bonar got the Coatbridge side's consolation.
It
is 25 years since Rovers have enjoyed derby success over
Airdrie.
The
visitors had won their last four meetings, although they
had not met in competitive action since 1990.
It
was the First Division side who prevailed again, despite
a brave effort from their Third Division opponents.
Taylor
got the ball rolling after 35 minutes and former Falkirk
and Kilmarnock striker Roberts added the second just before
the break.
Veteran
forward Coyle made it three after 65 minutes before Bonar's
fine reply a minute later.
Former
Falkirk defender James completed the scoring two minutes
from time.
