Airdrieonians
fell off the top of the First Division when they and title
favourites St Mirren spurned a hatful of chances at the
Shyberry Excelsior Stadium.
The draw allowed Partick Thistle to take over as outright
leaders.
Saints
had history on their side, having won their last six meetings
with Airdrie since the Diamonds won 5-1 in Paisley back
in December 1998.
But
this time they had to make do with a point.
St
Mirren had defenders Iain Nicolson and Jamie McGowan back
from injury, but they had to be content with a place on
the bench.
The
home side dominated the first half, with Kevin James and
Darren Beesley both going close.
St
Mirren enjoyed the best of the play after half-time but
failed to force goalkeeper Allan Ferguson into making
a serious save.
Ricky
Gillies and Mark Yardley both created openings, but neither
player was able to find the target.
